The return of the Polka Dot

The return of the Polka Dot

If there is one trend dominating Summer 2026, it’s undoubtedly the polka dot. From luxury runways to effortless holiday wardrobes, this playful print has made a powerful comeback, proving once again that true style never fades.

With summer holidays just around the corner, I find myself dreaming of sunshine, seaside dinners and of course the perfect vacation wardrobe. One piece I reach for time and time again is the classic polka dot outfit. Light, feminine and effortlessly chic, it is the kind of garment that transcends seasons and trends.

Last summer, while exploring the beautiful island of Mykonos Greece, I packed one of my favourite creations: a white cotton dress adorned with oversized black polka dots. There was something wonderfully nostalgic about wearing it while strolling through the charming whitewashed streets and watching the sunset over the Aegean Sea.

Polka dots have a rich fashion history. The print gained popularity in the early twentieth century and became synonymous with elegance, femininity and playful sophistication. Fashion icons such as Marilyn Monroe embraced the trend while Disney’s beloved Minnie Mouse made polka dots instantly recognisable to generations around the world. Nearly a century later, the print remains as relevant as ever.

For me, however polka dots carry a much deeper meaning. I vividly remember my late great-grandmother wearing a beautiful black and white polka dot choli. Her effortless style left a lasting impression on me and years later it became the inspiration behind one of my own designs.

While trends come and go, polka dots continue to reinvent themselves for every generation. Their current revival in Summer 2026 is proof that some prints never lose their charm. Whether styled for a holiday, a garden party or an elegant evening out, polka dots remain a symbol of effortless sophistication.

As a designer, I love seeing timeless classics reimagined for the modern wardrobe. And for me, polka dots will always hold a special place, not only in fashion history but also in my own story.

Are you embracing the polka dot trend this summer?
